Ultherapy is a non-surgical skin tightening treatment that uses focused ultrasound energy to stimulate collagen production beneath the skin. As new collagen develops over time, the skin gradually becomes firmer and tighter. When used around the upper face, Ultherapy may create a subtle lifting effect in the brow area for patients with mild brow heaviness, but it cannot replace brow lift surgery when more significant correction is needed.

At ASI Medical Spa in Issaquah, WA, located inside Adara Surgical Institute, we offer it for early brow heaviness in patients who are not ready for surgery.

When Ultherapy May Help Brow Heaviness

Ultherapy may help when brow heaviness is mild and related to early skin laxity in the upper face. It is best suited for subtle lifting and firming, not dramatic brow repositioning.

Ultherapy may be considered when there is:

  • Mild brow heaviness
  • Early hooding related to brow position
  • Mild skin laxity above the brows
  • A tired look caused by early skin looseness
  • A preference for non-surgical treatment
  • Little to no downtime desired
  • Time to wait for gradual improvement

The skin should still have enough elasticity to respond to collagen stimulation. If the heaviness is mainly caused by extra upper eyelid skin, significant brow descent, or deeper structural changes, another treatment may be more appropriate.

How Ultherapy Works To Lift the Brow

Ultherapy uses focused ultrasound energy to target the deeper layers of the skin without affecting the surface. The controlled heat stimulates the body's natural collagen production, helping the skin become firmer and tighter over time.

When used around the forehead and brow area, this gradual tightening may create a subtle lifting effect. Rather than lifting the brow directly, Ultherapy improves skin support through collagen remodeling, which can help elevate mildly heavy brows in appropriate candidates. The lift is real but small, usually a millimeter or two, and not everyone gets a measurable change.

Unlike brow lift surgery, Ultherapy does not involve incisions, stitches, or tissue removal. Results develop gradually over several months as new collagen forms and are intended to provide subtle, natural-looking improvement rather than dramatic brow repositioning.

Most patients see the change at 3 to 6 months, and the result lasts about a year or more. Dori sets how many treatments you need and how far apart at your visit.

What Ultherapy Feels Like

Ultherapy is uncomfortable while it is being done. Each pulse is a brief deep heat or ache, worse at the brow because the bone sits close under the skin. The feeling stops when the pulse stops.

Our pre-treatment sheet says ibuprofen about an hour before the appointment may help with the discomfort. Do not ice the area for the first 12 hours after treatment.

Side Effects and Risks of Ultherapy on the Brow

The common effects are short-lived. Redness, mild swelling, tenderness to touch, and the occasional bruise last a few days. Tingling or numbness can last a few weeks and then fade on its own.

The one risk specific to the brow is the nerve. The branch of the facial nerve that raises the eyebrow runs through the temple, right through the treatment zone. Rarely, the heat irritates it and one brow lifts weakly for a few weeks. It recovers on its own, but it should be seen.

Some patients should not have Ultherapy at all. It should be skipped when there is:

  • An open wound or active infection in the treatment area
  • An implanted electrical device such as a pacemaker, or a metal implant near the area
  • Pregnancy

Call ASI Medical Spa at (425) 553-3223 if one brow will not lift, if numbness is still there after a few weeks, or if you see blistering.

When Another Treatment May Be More Appropriate

While it can improve mild brow heaviness caused by early skin laxity, Ultherapy is not intended to correct more advanced structural changes around the brow and upper eyelids.

Another treatment may be more appropriate when there is:

  • Significant brow descent
  • Moderate to severe upper eyelid hooding
  • Excess upper eyelid skin
  • Vision obstruction caused by eyelid heaviness
  • Pronounced forehead heaviness
  • A desire for more dramatic or immediate results

Depending on the underlying cause of the concern, treatment options may include a surgical brow lift, upper eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty), or a Botox brow lift. The right treatment depends on the cause of the brow heaviness. In some cases, Ultherapy is an appropriate option. In others, a surgical or injectable treatment may provide a better result.

Surgical and Non-Surgical Treatments at Adara Surgical Institute

At Adara Surgical Institute, treatment begins with a careful evaluation of your brow position, upper-face skin laxity, eyelid anatomy, and aesthetic goals. This allows us to determine whether Ultherapy is likely to provide the subtle lifting and tightening you are looking for or if another treatment would better achieve your goals.

Ultherapy is performed by Dori Nasserziayee, our Licensed Master Aesthetician, who has advanced training and extensive experience with the treatment. She focuses on natural-looking results and helping patients understand what Ultherapy can realistically accomplish. For patients who may benefit from injectable treatments, our nurse practitioner, Shreena, provides Botox® and Dysport® treatments, which can create a subtle brow lift by relaxing specific muscles around the eyebrows.

When a surgical approach is more appropriate, Dr. Hardeep Dhaliwal, a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon (United States and Canada) and surgeon certified by the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery and the American Board of Facial Cosmetic Surgery, offers advanced facial cosmetic procedures, including brow lift surgery and upper eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty). The American Board of Cosmetic Surgery and the American Board of Facial Cosmetic Surgery are not recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties.

Because our team provides both surgical and non-surgical treatment options, we can recommend the approach that best matches your anatomy, concerns, and desired outcome.

FAQs

Can Ultherapy lift hooded eyes?

Ultherapy may help mild hooding when the heaviness is related to early brow descent or skin laxity. It cannot remove excess upper eyelid skin. If hooding is more advanced, upper eyelid surgery or brow lift surgery may be more appropriate. We do both here when that is the better fit.

Is Ultherapy the same as a Botox brow lift?

Ultherapy uses focused ultrasound energy to stimulate collagen and gradually tighten the skin. A Botox brow lift uses neurotoxin injections to relax muscles that pull the brow downward. The right option depends on the cause of brow heaviness.

How soon will I see results from an Ultherapy brow lift?

Some patients notice early firmness, but full results take time. The most visible improvement often develops over 3 to 6 months as collagen production increases.

Does an Ultherapy brow lift require downtime?

Ultherapy usually has little to no downtime. Temporary redness, tenderness, swelling, tingling, or sensitivity may occur, but many patients return to normal activities soon after treatment.

Does Ultherapy hurt?

Expect a brief deep heat or ache with each pulse, worse at the brow where bone sits close under the skin. Ibuprofen about an hour before may help, and the discomfort ends when the treatment ends.

How long does an Ultherapy brow lift last?

The result lasts about a year or more once it has fully developed, which takes 3 to 6 months. Dori sets the repeat interval at your visit.
